The reaction was purified by column chromatography on silica gel (petroleum ether: EtOAc=1:0 to 0:1) to afford 5-bromo-2-(1,1-difluoroethyl)pyrimidine (298 mg, 88% yield). 1H NMR (CDCl3 500 MHz): delta 8.92 (s, 21-1), 2.08 (t, 2H).
