The residue was dissolved in ethyl acetate (333 mL) and water (333 mL) and pH was adjusted to 7 by addition of 10% NaHC03. The organic layer was washed with saturated NaCl solution, and then evaporated to dryness. The residue was dissolved in acetic anhydride (cca 200 mL) and stirred at 0-5 C for 2 h. The precipitate that formed was filtered off and dried 5h / 40 C / 10 mbar.Yield: 18.34 (68%) of acetyl-N-(2,6-dichloropyrimidin-4-yl)hydroxylamine (DCAP-Ac). Purity (HPLC): 100 area %.
