The remaining residue was purified by silica gel chromatography to afford 2-chloro-6-methyl-pyrimidin-4-amine (10.4 g, 72.4 mmol, 30% yield) as a white solid. LCMS (ESI): m/z: [M +H] calculated for C5H7QN3 : 144.0; found 144.3.
