The combined organic layers were dried under vacuum and the resulting oil was purified via chromatographic column on silica gel (hexane/EtOAc 9:1) to give the 2.5 g of the corresponding racemic product of formula (I-a, PG=TBDMS, Z=OMe) (Molar yield = 68% yield).
