1.3.1 Intermediate 10 ADiisopropylethylamine (1.5 mL, 8.7 mmol) was added to a mixture of methyl 2- chloropyrimidine-5-carboxylate (0.5 g, 2.9 mmol) and (3R)-3-methoxypyrrolidine hydrochloride (0.48 g, 3.48 mmol) in acetonitrile (6 mL) and the mixture was micro waved at 140 C for 30 min. The reaction was diluted with ethyl acetate (20 mL), water (10 mL) and sodium carbonate (sat., aq., 10 mL). The phases were separated and the aqueous phase was re- extracted with ethyl acetate (2 x 20 mL) and the combined organic phases were washed with water (10 mL), brine (2 x 10 mL), dried (MgS04), filtered and concentrated. The residue was purified by silica chromatography, 0-100% ethyl acetate in petrol to give product as a light yellow solid methyl 2-[(3R)-3-methoxypyrrolidin-l-yl]pyrimidine-5-carboxylate (0.66 g, 95 % yield).
