EXAMPLE 68 2-Methylsulfonyl-4-phenylpyrimidine A solution of 2.02 g. of 2-methylthio-4-phenylpyrimidine in 50 ml. of methylene chloride is cooled in an ice bath with 4.33 g. of m-chloroperbenzoic acid being added portionwise. The solution is passed through a short pad of hydrous magnesium silicate absorbent and the eluent is refluxed on a steam bath with addition of hexane until crystallization is induced.
