A library of pyrimidinyl benzazolyl urea derivatives were synthesized from pyrimidine-2-amine and Me benzazolylcarbamate in the presence of potassium tert-butoxide in DMF. The compounds with benzothiazolyl and benzimidazolyl moieties having chloro and nitro substituents on the aromatic ring exhibited prominent antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilus. Nitro substituted pyrimidinyl benzothiazolyl urea and pyrimidinyl benzimidazolyl urea displayed prominent antifungal activity against Asperigellus niger. The compounds with benzoxazole moiety showed greater radical scavenging activity than those with benzothiazole and benzimidazole units.
