The reaction mixture was heated at 850C under N2 for 6 hours. The reaction mixture was evaporated, partitioned between 10 ml sodium bicarbonate solution and 10 ml ethyl acetate, the aqueous was extracted again twice with 10 ml ethyl acetate, the organics were combined, dried over magnesium sulphate, filtered and evaporated to give a purple gum (416 mg, 82%).LCMS (System 4, acidic run): 2.02 mins m/z (APCI) = 269 [MH+]
