General procedure: To a stirred solution of DBN (124 mg, 1 mmol) in MeCN (4 mL), a solution of methyl 4-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-pentynoate (1a; 142 mg, 1 mmol) in MeCN (3 mL) and H2O (1 mL) was added dropwise over 10 min.
