(2) Synthesis of compound C: To a suspension of 15.0 g of Compound (B) separately obtained according to the procedure of Section (1) and 90 mL of ethanol was gradually added 17.5 g of ethoxymethylene malononitrile (manufactured by ALDRICH) at room temperature, and the internal temperature was elevated to 60C, followed by reflux for 3.0 hours.
