The reaction mixture was concentrated and dissolved in EtOAc (30 mL). The EtOAc layer was washed with NaHCO3, brine, dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated to give crude 5,5-Dibromo-2-chloro-7-methyl-5H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-6(7H)-one (1.72 g) which was used for the next step.
